Americans have made their choice...

It feels almost surreal. In fact, this old election has felt like something straight from here:

And now our odyssey begins....I fear it may be an odyssey of upheaval, a journey to a place of unrest and the first steps down a path of weakness for this country. I have never prayed so hard in my life that I am wrong about something. I will keep praying for that. I'd rather be wrong about Barack Obama and what he may do to this country than be right. The ability to say "I told you so" will be small comfort if and when it becomes obvious that he's leading us the wrong way.
I will say this to anyone out there who is hoping to start a political career: study Obama's campaign. It was brilliant. All the sheeple out there think it was McCain who ran a dirty campaign. The irony is almost unbearable.
I regret that John McCain will not get an opportunity to show America and the world just how right he would have been for the office of President of the United States of America. Wasn't in the cards for him, I suppose. But I thank him for giving me a chance to cast my vote for one of the finest Americans ever. I was proud to support you, Senator McCain. Learning your story and seeing you in action was both an honor and a privilege.

  1. I thought both speeches were good last night. I was incredibly proud of Sen. McCain. He is an example to us all. I am ready to get behind our President-elect and try to do my part for my country. Not sure what that is, at this point, but I'm ready.

God bless Pres.-elect Obama and God bless the USA.

  3. I watched Senator McCain's speech last night and was more proud of him than ever. He is a class act.

I now hope and pray that Obama breaks every single campaign promise. God help us in the days ahead.

  4. Mc Cain's speech pure class esp to say I would not have done anything differently since some Rep think putting a Washington outsider,Palin in there was suicide. I disagree and good for him- Yes money can buy the presidency we now see that . Now he must surround himself with good people ..Today another blogger equated the Obamaites to Jim Jones kool aid faithfull..I pray . But Obama is a Washington insider and they can really turn on you .I love your post today - hitting the nail squarely on the head.my blog is not as meaty as yours but come and visit ..s andy

  5. This is truly a sad day...I am very sad that some people only registered to vote and voted for someone based on the color of his skin and not because of experience. If these same people turned out to vote in previous elections in such numbers then maybe they wouldn't have had so much to complain about the last 8 years.

    Blessings,
    Robin

  7. Sigh...very well said, Kari. May all we Conservatives be wrong, but we know that we're not...not if one believes what President-elect Obama tells us.

  8. Sen. McCain was much more gracious than you all are. This election galvanized the people of this country who till this point felt they had no voice. It would be for the good of ALL for everyone to unite and truly make these the United States of America.

  9. "sheeple" LOL

McCain gave an awsome speech last night - his talk was all about his servant's heart and how honored he would have been to SERVE his country at President...it was about the honor and not the position...and well I'll just stop there.

  10. Good job Kari. I think you are most gracious. Never give up your right to state your opinion no matter how it differs from those who would tell you how to think. Pappy

  11. Hi Kari,

I am sad too. I stopped watching after Ohio was lost and haven't watch TV all day. I do wish I would have watched McCain's speech. I do believe in the power of prayer so let the praying begin.........

  12. Good post Kari.

I saw a quote this morning that I agree with:

"McCain lost because he was running against the media, all minorities, and against a hated president. Considering the deck was stacked so high, I think he did pretty well to get 40% of the vote. I'm proud I supported him."

    Hugs!

  13. Kari,
I am distraught over the election results and although I respect McCain I can't say I really agree with his speech. I feel like he was too wimpy, I guess it was gracious and we need to be gracious, but let's not give up our beliefs and ideals of what is right and wrong. There are some very serious divisions within our country and I am not willing to give up my convictions and core beliefs for the sake of unity. I will not be filled with hate and rage as liberals were after they lost the last election but I will not lie down and accept the many left wing agenda items I see coming.

  14. We wept. I've been thinking about taking to politics but don't have the guts or the patience. At least our man will be back in the Senate where he can overlook and yell out loudly when he see things going afoul. And he will. Yell out. It will be loudly. What a man we could have had to follow...that's not to say he isn't still leading.

  15. Lovely written. I can only hope that we are wrong. I don't like being wrong but in this instance it would make me happy. Glad it's all over. Now for some Christmas planning....

I have to ask a HUGE favor. There's a new Elmo out (Elmo Live) and that's what we want to get Kara for her Santa Clause gift. So I am not sure if it's one of those things that people will be throwing punches for or not. Anyway, could you pick one up for us if you see one and I will reimburse you? I hate asking because it's almost $60, but Kara loves Elmo so I know it will be worth it. If you want I can mail a check tomorrow. Let me know. Hope to hear from you soon.

    love ya, Jodie
