The Day Started So Beautifully...

I got up the other morning to a sky full of soft sunshine and a freshly brewed pot of coffee. Ahhhhhhhh. Bliss. I stood at the backdoor, sipping my coffee, asking myself why is it that I never drink coffee sitting out back, especially on such a lovely day. And then I saw why. The sunlight glinted off something shiny over by the outdoor clock. I looked closer. Here's what it was: Yeah. A big, honkin' spiderweb. Eeewwww. This is the part of the story where I realized I have been blogging way too long. Instead of the usual SCREAM OF PANIC I normally would have given, I promptly went in search of my camera so I could share this vision with all of you. I got as close as I could....that is to say about 6 to 8 feet from it... and then zoomed the camera as much as it'd go. How's this for a giant YUCK, EEECK!, GROSS, SAVE ME, HELP, SEND IN THE ARTILLERY sort of creature?
I'm here to tell you, if Little Miss Muffet has been sitting on her Tuffet and this thing had sat down beside her?..Little Miss Muffet would have either dropped dead from a heart attack or passed out and drowned in her curds and why. And who could blame her. As for the creature? Let's just say he suffered a none-too-soon demise from a biological weapon I like to call Bengal Bug Spray.

  1. It's that time of year!

I have to share this story! I am totally creeped out by bugs and spiders are no exception. One morning, I headed out the back door to go through the breezeway to the garage. Time to go to work in the wee hours of the morning. As soon as I walked through the doorway - you guessed it - I was COVERED in spider spit! It was a HUGE spiderweb that had been spun all over the doorway. I screamed and swatted at myself, imagining a swarm of blood sucking spiders attacking me. Oh my goodness, it scared the stuffing out of me!

  10. Ohhhhhhh, it's just a Banana Spider. LOL ;)

It's freaky isn't it? I had one on the stairway handle going into my HOUSE about a year ago. OMG, it scared the ever living crap out of me. And of course, I took pics. It wasn't easy getting in and out of the house that day. I was NOT about to touch it, Chad had to take care of it for me. But I googled it. It's a banana spider and they make gorgeous webs. :)
