I love your beautiful roses. With regard to the black walnuts-- certain things such as roses, tomatoes, apples etc. won't grown near walnut trees because of juglone which is excreted by the walnut roots and is in the leaves of a walnut. So even if you cut one down you can't plant certain things near it for a certain period of time. Lousy, isn't it? I had to be really careful where I planted the rose beds.
