Why it's important to know the issues and the candidates...

You've got to listen to this audio from Howard Stern. I'm no fan of Howard (I usually find him too crass for my tastes) but someone sent me this audio in an e-mail. I have to say, after listening to this, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or roll my eyes or scream. I probably did all of those things at one point or another. Made me wonder if maybe we should have to take a competency test before being allowed to vote. I say that rather sarcastically, but now that I think about it, it might not be a bad idea. Listen up and tell me what you think.

You know, I've always been an advocate of people getting out there and voting. But I kind of think it's important to know who and what you're voting for. Who'd of thought that needed to be specified? Geez.
Now for this:
"The price John McCain paid for his country, you couldn't even pay the taxes on."
That's a quote from the guy in this next video. His entire video is about 10 minutes long. I suspect that not many will take the time to watch and listen, though. Politics has become an almost taboo subject among most Americans. It's like talking about abortion, women's rights, racial issues and religion...most of us won't discuss these things in public for fear of "offending" someone. Welcome to the Politically Correct United States of America...where personal views are to be mocked and discouraged and silenced because to give voice to them might cause someone to have to respond with personal thoughts of their own, which might actually result in a debate on the issues and gee whiz, who wants that?
I question America's new-found propensity for being silent, unoffensive sheep. I don't think it's what our founding fathers had in mind for us when they began their quest for freedom and created this wonderful place called the United States of America where we can express views without fear of retribution. Seems like, in the main, the only people who want to express a political view are the ones who are members of an actual campaign. Most of us regular "folks" have taken on the role of bystander. We've sure come a long way, baby...too bad we took that U-turn somewhere along the way.

  1. Oh I love my new sidebar button...makes finding you so much easier again.

I can not believe that interview of Democrat voters. What is going on? Talk about uninformed. It proves that there are quite a number who are NOT voting for Obama for his policies. They are just voting for Obama. Scary. Very, very scary.

I watched the other video a while back...good points...too bad they go on so long. ;> I mean, we've got to keep it short for some to "get it."

  3. Vee directed me to your post. I am in full agreement. I can't understand why there are groups to get out the vote. If you don't have the initiative to register to vote, you don't deserve to. I almost want to say that if you don't pay taxes you don't vote- why should someone not earning any money decide where mine is spent?

  4. I listened to Howard, and I listened to a lot of the second one. But I'm very sorry, I could not stomach the whole 10 mins, of however long the 2nd one runs.

Never have I liked Howard Stern, till now!!!!

Oh but... Don't you know? The Lib Dems will say that's a fake tape, from Howard. Hell, they even mock the tape I asked to be watched, of the legislative session, where Dems. said Fanny and Freddie were OK. And called those who were trying to raise an alarm, they called them Racist. And a moderate Dem. would only mock my asking him to watch it.

  7. I just think it's wise to not get into a heated discussion with friends or family over politics and religion due to the fact that both can be broken beyond repair by something, such as this, that really isn't worth it. That's just my feelings on it. I've done tons of research on both candidates and have found them to be equal in their dishonest tactics and bs meter readings. I'm trying to decide now between the lessor of the two evils.

Besides, how is it that the American people can really believe that they elect the candidate of their choice when they're really given only two choices and the electoral votes are the ones that count?

  9. Yeah, I heard the Stern 'person on the street' poll a while back. It made me want to cry. This is turning into the most ridiculous political season of my life and I'm worried for our country. I think there are people who would vote for a tree stump rather than a Republican candidate these days. It's the association to the present administration, I'm afraid. And when the other candidate took a pass on voting on many controversial issues, you can't make anything stick to him. Talk about a teflon candidate!!! And when you've got the US media on your side, well, no worries, right?

Sorry you're being stalked. I think we all have a right to our opinions and people who come to you to be mean are just bullies.

  13. oh my gosh I had to laugh all the way through Stern's video! Although that is so sad it probably shouldn't be funny. All 3 people are "FOR" Obama, yet all 3 said they had no problem w/Palin being VP if Obama wins! LOL What?!!? Oh what policies do you agree w/of Obama's? That he's pro-life? Yes said all 3! Hello!

I've seen the 2nd video on someone else's blog and watched all 10 min. I didn't think I would, but that guy is good! He really pulls you in and captivates you - McCain needs him on his campaign!

  14. I already knew that was going on before watching Stern's video. Both of my friends Tangela and Britteny voted Obama because he's black, they didn't care about his policies. It's a shame really. I tried to talk to them but they wouldn't listen. Sad but true.

I loved the second video, if I thought I had any readers that weren't yours I would steal it and put it on my blog. Heck I'll do it anyway, it's got to get out before November 4th. How would I go about doing that??
